 Preliminary Checklist

At this time this checklist is still very much in its preliminary stages of development. Being highly mobile, many bird species come and go with the seasons, and it will take several more years of observations from visiting birders in order to add previously unrecorded species, as well as to more accurately designate seasonal status values (abundant, common, uncommon, rare, etc.) for each bird species recorded and listed. At this time, our bird list contains 184 species.

Direct link of additional information and photos of the birds is courtesy of The National Audubon Society, a nonprofit organization designed to protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow, throughout the Americas using science, advocacy, education, and on-the-ground conservation

Abbreviations:
Sp = March-May | Su = June-August | F = September-November | W = December-February

As with all of our site’s target inhabitants – plants, dragonflies, butterflies, and birds – those of you who visit PJF Farm with a camera and notepad in hand can greatly assist us in developing our various checklists by sending photos and checklists, along with dates and locations of observations of any of these organisms to Bill Fontenot (natrldlite@cox.net or 337-852-5576).
